The Gurkha Centre | Hayes | 20 December 2024

The Gurkha Centre is thrilled to share that the Christmas lunch, held on Friday, 20th December 2024, at the Hayes and Harlington Community Centre, was a heartwarming success. This special gathering brought together the English language group at the Charity consisting of Gurkha veterans and ladies from West London for a festive celebration filled with joy, laughter, and camaraderie.

Our deepest gratitude goes to Raj Sharma, whose vision and dedication made this event possible. Raj, a devoted language teacher and the owner of the renowned Annapurna Nepalese Restaurant, has been a guiding light for our language group. His unwavering commitment to teaching and inspiring our Gurkha veterans and ladies, despite his busy schedule, is truly commendable.

A Day to Remember

The Christmas lunch was a perfect way to celebrate the achievements of our language group and mark the end of the year on a high note. Raj and his team prepared a delectable menu, blending the authentic flavours of Nepalese cuisine with the warmth of festive traditions. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the sense of community was palpable as everyone came together to share stories, enjoy delicious food, and celebrate the holiday spirit.

Our students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow under Raj’s guidance. Many shared heartfelt stories of how these classes have not only improved their English skills but also built their confidence and strengthened their sense of belonging.

Acknowledging Our Community’s Support

The Founder/CEO of The Gurkha Centre, Bhim Tamang, extended heartfelt thanks to all who attended the event, making it a memorable day for everyone involved. He mentioned that the presence and enthusiasm from everyone added so much joy to the celebration. He expressed special thanks to Mr. Shom Ghale from Nepbridge Services for travelling all the way from Aldershot to show his support and for generously providing drinks and beverages. He added that the thoughtful contribution truly uplifted the occasion.

Bhim expressed his thanks to dedicated volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. He mentioned the efforts exemplify the true spirit of giving and community.

A Legacy of Giving and Learning

Since Raj Sharma joined the team at The Gurkha Centre, he has been a beacon of support for our community. Through his leadership of our language classes and his work at Annapurna Nepalese Restaurant, he has consistently demonstrated his passion for bringing people together and making a positive impact.

Raj appreciated the students for their interest in learning despite their old age. He further highlighted that coming to the centre to learn language has other benefits such as keeping themselves active and getting to meet each other. Raj expressed that he finds it very rewarding to have formed a special relationship with our students and be able to contribute to a noble cause.

We look forward to continuing this journey of learning and community building in the coming year. Thank you once again to Raj Sharma and everyone who contributed to the success of this event. Together, we celebrated not just Christmas but also the bonds that make our community strong.

Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
