The Gurkha Centre at the 12th Budha Subba Gold Cup: Promoting Health, Unity, and Community Spirit

On Saturday, 21st June 2025, The Gurkha Centre proudly participated in the 12th Budha Subba Gold Cup, a major community sporting event organised by Dharan Samaj UK (DSUK) at Tudor Park Sports and Leisure Centre in Feltham. The tournament brought together over 1,200 spectators and teams from across the UK, creating a vibrant platform for unity, sportsmanship, and community celebration.

As part of our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of the Gurkha community, The Gurkha Centre hosted a charity information stall throughout the day. Our team provided culturally sensitive advice, guidance, and information on a range of important issues, including general health and wellbeing, accessing statutory benefits, and navigating the UK’s complex social care systems.

A key feature of our presence was the free basic health check-up station, led by our Co-Founder and Health & Wellbeing Officer, Ms. Sumita Rai. These health screenings—focusing on vital signs, early detection, and community education—continue to play an essential role in our preventative work, supporting community members in maintaining better long-term health outcomes.

We were delighted to connect with many attendees and share resources tailored to the unique needs of Gurkha veterans, widows, and families. This initiative is part of our broader vision to ensure no one in our community feels left behind when it comes to accessing health and social care services.

We warmly invite qualified health and social care professionals to join our mission. Whether you can volunteer a few hours at community events or wish to collaborate with us on future initiatives, your contribution can make a real and lasting impact. To learn more or get involved, please contact us or visit us at future events.

Together, let us continue building a healthier, more informed, and empowered community.
